Loo Maps for the most pressing need!
'Project Loo', launched on February 21, 2015 by Ahmedabad resident Jatin Chaudhary along with his partner Kunal Chaudhari, is a blessing to all the people on the go, perturbed by an intolerable need to reach for a washroom. This project, launched formally in Ahmedabad, aims for a virtual map containing information regarding all public toilets in the busiest areas of Ahmedabad, before spreading across 40 other cities in India.

Under the project, restrooms of hotels, cafes, office buildings and business houses will be mapped, that would allow commuters and travelers to use them, especially while in transit or attending important meetings. The maps would be made available on a website as well as on Android-driven mobile phones. In its first phase, the project plans to list 200 public toilets in 5 areas of Ahmedabad, between Ashram Road and Prahladnagar.

Around 10,000 entrepreneurs will source and collate the data for the Project. These entrepreneurs are part of the eChai venture, that Jatin and Kunal launched 5 years ago, to link upcoming entrepreneurs and start-ups with each other as well as with the market. Once the ball gets rolling, the group plans to involve citizens to map public toilets and restrooms, and based on public feedback, the group shall approach the government and civic bodies to improve things. The second phase would involve mapping in several cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Pune, etc., where eChai has a network. At the moment, eChai Ventures enjoys a presence in more than 25 cities.
