Pune students march for a zero-garbage city

In an attempt to awaken the citizens and save the Mula river that flows through Pune city, a few college students came together to participate in a zero-garbage rally to spread awareness about the need to clean up the city. The river banks have been dumped with garbage lying in and around the area. Mayor Chanchala Kodre who flagged off the rally mentioned that the youth is trying to spread the message of cleanliness, which will effectively reach the masses and help conserve the environment.

Around 3,000 students joined the marched from Deccan to Agriculture College to spread the message of a garbage-free city. The movement sought to bring together people from all walks of life who want a zero-garbage and eco-friendly Pune. The organisers, Organisation for Social Services and the Pune Municipal Corporation even felicitated those who chose eco-friendly Ganesh idols during the recent Ganpati festival.

Besides, the organisers have plans to distribute dustbins across the city and urged people to collect and dispose of garbage properly in the right places without littering the streets.
