Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is following in the footsteps of Chennai Municipal Corporation with its formal launch of a complaint redressal system - called the Comprehensive Complaint Redressal System (CCRS) - wherein citizens can now dial 155303 – toll-free number - for any civic complaint. This makes AMC the first civic body in the state to launch such a complaint redressal system.
The feasibility and process of the system will be observed for three years, according to which any necessary changes or amendments will be made. A call centre has been introduced to centralise and keep track of solved complaints. The centre will be functional from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will have 30 lines. Complaints registered after 10 p.m. will be done under the Interactive Voice Response.
The new system covers more than 204 different types of complaints. Once the complaint is registered, the system will inform the concerned official and the higher authorities through an SMS and help in monitoring the complaint. The software will display the department with which the complaint has been registered as well as the deadline to solve it. Eight more cities in Gujarat will soon have similar complaint redressal systems.
