Kolkata may soon get two-storey public toilets
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has plans to build the country’s first two-storey public toilets keeping in mind the space crunch that the city faces. The city will get 170 such toilets, which will cost Rs 18 lakh each, of which Rs 17 lakh will come from the Central government. The ground floors will be reserved for women and the top floors for men and will be maintained by self-help groups. Currently, the city has 225 public toilets.
