At the WB Honours 2012, an event organized by Gnosis Services Pvt Ltd which also celebrated its second anniversary of its first publication, Washrooms and Beyond, the Honour for the “Development of Model Public Washrooms by State Government” category was presented to Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation (KSWDC) for the initiative taken for providing exclusive amenities to women.

KSWDC is the body that proactively works towards promoting the Government of Kerala’s concern in empowering the women of the state. As a fresh new initiative in this regard, and as part of the state-wide initiative aimed at the welfare of women, KSWDC has initiated a special project to provide top of the line public washroom facilities for women. Called ‘She Toilets’, these utilities have just been launched in the state. The concept brought out and mobilized by the KSWDC is recognized as the first of its kind in the country.
